Diptychs - something new for me

I have so many hobbies and creative loves. Sometimes I feel like that is a problem as I can have a tendency to leave one and escape to another when things get difficult, or have a little voice in the back of my head telling me that by not concentrating on one thing I will never be consistent or really good at anything.

These kinds of ideas have plagued me for most of my creative life and it can be difficult to get out of my own head. But I realised the other day that all my hobbies and creative loves will be “what I think of them”, not some preconceived notion of what is right or wrong because let’s face it art can be right or wrong just by the way someone interprets it.

So I am choosing to think of all my creative loves as parts of myself and the world around me that feed each other. I try a lot more different things in design and feel less boxed in than in photography, or so I realised the other day (gosh holidays are a great time to sit soak and reflect). So I am taking some inspiration from my design half and trying to experiment a bit more in photography.

I know that people have been making Diptychs for years now but for me it is something new and it is fun to play with something different. Luckily one of the inspirational photographers I followed on Instagram (@cindy_cavanagh) sent out a new letter today to her subscribers and she included a 38 page PDF all about diptychs. It felt like I was getting a present haha! It is a very beautiful PDF and just the extra motivation that I needed.

So I am excited to play with something new and I look forward to sharing more. Some of them may work and others may completely suck but that is all part of the experimenting and the learning process.

I wish everyone a very creative summer full of experiments and experiences that make you smile.
Enjoy the ride people!
