Cherry Blossom Japan

Cherry Blossom Japan

I remember my first Cherry Blossom season in Japan. Everyone got so excited and all the talk was about the blossoms and the best place to see them and when they will be exactly in full bloom. I was excited to experience this beloved occasion and it was amazing, the blossoms are gorgeous and everyone is happy, it feels like spring and the sun is shinning again and it's starting to warm up. I loved it and I continued to love it every year. After living in Japan for over 6 years I feel now like I 'get it' more. I was naive to think it was just about the blossoms, after all this is Japan where everything seems to carry more ritual and more meaning.

I see Sakura Season now as a time to reflect on the year past, think of the people who have helped me throughout the year, the things that I have accomplished and the moments I will treasure. It's a lovely way to start a new year, going from spring to spring when everything is fresh, warm and welcoming. So I am grateful to Japan for teaching me something I didn't even realised I needed to learn. This truly is a special country.

One day I will design a pattern to celebrate Sakura season. Until then I will enjoy experimenting and playing.

HAPPY CREATING :)
