About me:
Hello! I'm Cassandra, a multi-disciplinary creative enthusiast with a passion for bringing ideas to life through design, illustration, surface pattern design, book cover artistry, and photography. With over two decades of experience in the creative industry, my journey has been an exciting blend of artistic exploration and professional growth.
Living in 11 different countries has profoundly influenced my work, infusing it with a rich tapestry of cultural insights and diverse artistic perspectives. This global experience not only shapes my aesthetic but also fuels my creativity, allowing me to produce unique and compelling designs that resonate with a wide audience.
My creative journey is deeply intertwined with my personal life. I am fortunate to have a loving and supportive family—my wonderful husband and our two amazing kids. They inspire me daily and are my biggest cheerleaders in all my artistic endeavors.
Creativity isn't just a profession for me; it's an obsession. Whether I'm sketching a new illustration, crafting a book cover, designing intricate patterns, or capturing the world photographically, I pour my heart and soul into every project. My goal is to create work that not only meets the highest standards of excellence but also connects with people on an emotional level.
Let's collaborate and create something extraordinary together!
Happy creating!
"In the act of creativity, being careful guarantees sameness and mediocrity, which means your work will be invisible. Better to be reckless than careful. Better to be bold than safe."
George Lois
Some Rambling:
After leaving school I studied graphic design. I loved it and worked in the industry for a few years afterwards. I could never really put my finger on what it was about design that I loved so much. Then I moved country (I had done that a few times already) to a country where I wasn’t allowed to work. For the first 3 months it was just fun and games, but then it became boring and I started to feel pretty lost. I started studying photography and it became an obsession that I truly believe will stay with my for all my days. Photography helped me to see the world around me, to better understand it and make sense of what it is that I liked and disliked.
A few years later (and 10 of thousands of photographs later) and I was in another country with my first born. I started to study illustration which was just a lot of fun.
“The arts especially address the idea of aesthetic experience. An aesthetic experience is one in which your senses are operating at their peak; when you’re present in the current moment; when you’re resonating with the excitement of this thing that you’re experiencing; when you are fully alive.”
― Ken Robinson
When I fell into surface design I realised something: Photography feeds my designs and illustration. Travelling fuels all of my creativity.
I know now what it is that I love about this kind of work, it’s the act of creativity itself. Bringing something from the imagination into an idea and growing that idea, moulding it into something that takes on it’s own life and then sharing it with the world.
